NELFUND
For a brief time, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) will finally reopen its verification portal, enabling postsecondary schools who have not yet finished their student verification process to do so.
Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Fund's Director of Strategic Communications, revealed this in a statement released in Abuja on Friday.
The gateway will be accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, according to Oluwatuyi.
As part of the current 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application procedure, she clarified, the extension attempts to guarantee that all eligible students are appropriately identified and validated by their individual universities.
This delay is meant to make sure that all eligible students are properly identified and confirmed by their individual schools as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process, according to the statement.
"It is highly recommended that institutions take advantage of this last chance."
"The affected institutions will lose their participation in the current loan cycle if they do not finish the verification process within the allotted time, which will unfortunately disadvantage their students who are the loan scheme's ultimate beneficiaries."
Additionally, the fund declared 203 institutions to be defaulters, stating that this was done for accountability and transparency's sake.
Oluwatuyi reaffirmed the Fund's dedication to promoting fair access to postsecondary education by means of the effective, open, and inclusive administration of the program.
