After a crucial victory over Fulham, Bournemouth escapes the relegation zone

Bournemouth overcame a deficit to defeat Fulham 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium, lifting them out of the Premier League's relegation zone.

After putting the finishing touches on a well-executed play, Andreas Pereira rightfully gave Fulham the lead in the 16th minute. Nevertheless, Bournemouth responded five minutes into the second half when replacement Marcus Tavernier's spectacular strike reached the top corner.

Both teams pushed forward in an effort to score, but it was the home team that succeeded when Dominic Solanke scored his first league goal since November by squeezing the ball over the goal line with the help of an Antonee Robinson deflection (79).

With 10 games remaining, Bournemouth now sits in 15th place, one point above the bottom three. Three points behind Brighton in eighth place, Fulham is still in ninth.

Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic, who were banished after receiving red cards in the tense FA Cup quarterfinal loss to Manchester United, were not present for Fulham. Yet, the visitors were clearly the superior team in the first half and took the lead after just 16 minutes.
Manor Solomon, who took over for Willian, made a breakaway down the left before passing the ball back to Harrison Reed, who set up Pereira to score his first Premier League goal since November. Seven minutes later, Antonee Robinson hit the crossbar from 22 yards out, which would have increased the advantage.

It took Bournemouth until the 31st minute to generate a significant opportunity, as Dango Ouattarra narrowly missed the target with a left-footed attempt after Solanke and Philip Billing cleverly combined.

During halftime, Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil pulled Ryan Christie and fit-again Tavernier off the bench, and his team significantly improved in the second period.

Tavernier, who has been sidelined since February due to injury, scored an incredible equalizer in just five minutes. Leno appeared to have ample room for his punch away from a corner, but Tavernier picked up the loose ball, cut in from the right, and curled an unstoppable left-footed effort into the top corner from 20 yards out after picking up the ball.
