Rufai vs Umahi: Ebonyi natives denounce demonstration against Arise TV host

Ebonyi Indigenes have distanced themselves from the alleged demonstration against Rufai Oseni, the anchor of Arise Television, following a confrontation with Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works.

This was announced on Saturday by Ebonyi Diaspora natives in a statement provided to DAILY POST by Ambassador Pascal Oluchukwu.

This occurs only hours after a group of young people from Ebonyi State promised to stage a demonstration in order to pressure Rufai to issue an apology.

Remember the live television altercation between Rufai and Umahi a few days ago?

Oluchukwu responded by claiming that the organization organizing the demonstration against Rufai did not speak for the entire Ebonyi young population or the state's spirit.

He exhorted sincere Ebonyi teenagers to resist manipulation, concentrate on their future, and refrain from using them as a platform to disparage journalists or organizations that support openness and accountability.

"The culture of sycophancy and intolerance that defined Umahi's unusually authoritarian eight years in office is only strengthened by their actions."

"No public official, past or present, should be perceived as above or beyond the reach of the law," according to the principle of transparency.

He called on the Nigerian public, the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria (BON), and Arise News to disregard the antics of the self-serving gang that aims to absolve influential people of responsibility.

We urge Senator Umahi, who is currently Minister of Works, to conduct himself with the decency required by his position, to answer questions from the public honestly and modestly, and to refrain from saying or doing anything that will further harm the reputation of Ebonyi State and its citizens.
